Antigua Crowned Tri-Nations Winner
The First Tri-Nation Tournament between Antigua, St. Lucia and host country St. Kitts and Nevis came to an astounding climax on Sunday 22nd October with Antigua being crowned winners of the inaugural event.
The tournament drew male and female tennis players from various skill levels to the island and sporting fans got to witness Stella performances from athletes from varied categories namely:

- Ladies and Men’s Doubles
The high points for the SKNTA accordinf to the president Watkins Chiverton were “the tremendous exposure our players received from the tournament ass there were able to compete against their regional pairs. Their Maturity, competitiveness and resilience were witnessed by the coaches and sports fans who commended the local players on their overall performances.”
Results
Girls 14 and under
in the Girls 14 and under category Antiguan Brasha Dyer won with an unbeaten performance over her fellow compatriot Ariel Kelsick winning the final 4-1, 4-2. The young Ladies exhibited such grace and pace similar to that of the Williams sisters.
Boys 14 and under
In the boys final J’moi Bryant of St. Kitts faced Antigan Rodain Monell in a well contested final. Rodain’s slender figure was merely a disguise but the young man came packing a punch and consistent ground stokes. He beat J’moi in straight sets 5-3, 5-4 (7-2)
J’amoi exhibited exceptional performance in all of his matches and also took the Trophy for the Best sportsmanship and character in this category.
Boys 18 and under
In the 18 and under category, Aiden Fuller faced his fellow compatriot from Antigua Justin Marcano. Aiden’s height and powerful served were his best assets and he over powered Justin winning in straight sets 4-1, 4-1
the other semi-final was between St. Kitts’ own T’moi Jeffers vs Maxx Williams of St Lucia. the match was a hard fought and exciting three setter. Maxx Williams was however determined to book his place in the final winning 3-5, 4-1, 12-7
T’moi was a victim of the draw and excitement as he in the early round was undefeated even over Maxx Williams. The result no way tells of His exceptional overall performance. He too with the advance coaching will be a bright spark for St. Kits for Max Williams in an ITF Tour player and to match him without that experience speaks volume of his potential.
Now to the seniors
Men’s Singles
In the Men’s semi-final draw Andrew Abraham of St Kitts continued his winning ways with a straight set win over Antigua’s Ron Murray of Antigua 4-2, 4-2
In the other semi we had Paul Trotman also of St. Kitts beating his fellow country man and practice mate Walwyn Chiverton, in a match that was hard fought to the end. 4-0, 1-4, 12-5
St. Kitts’ men dominated this category and were relentless and resolved in their expert play as they setup this all St. Kitts Men’s final
Women’s Singles
In the women’s draw we had hard hitting Selene Kentish of Antigua coming up against Kianna King also of Antigua. Selene has been very consistent all through the tournament and it would be much of the same dominance as she took the match in straight sets winning 7-4, 4-0
The other semi featured a match-up of Iesha Emile of St Lucia vs Lesley Broadbelt of St. Kitts. Iesha’s style of play is to wear down her opponent and it worked as she was the winner with a straight set victory 4-2, 4-2 advancing to the final
Match day 3 came to closed with the male and females doubles play.
In the Women’s we had Henry / Anderson of Antigua facing Emile / Paul of St. Lucia. Although the Antiguans tried their best it was St. Lucia’s time to shine and this, they did win in straight sets 4-2, 4-1 claiming the Women’s Doubles Title
In the Men’s doubles we had the final between Abraham and Elliott of St Kitts coming up against Murray / Phillip of Antigua. The crowd packed the stands to witness this unfolding spectacle and got their money’s worth. Murray and Phillip were the winner though taking the match 5-3, 4-0
The St. Kitts Team performed well even though not the eventual winners and have gain tremendous experience with earlier wins in the preliminary rounds.
